Taking A Breath

I don't know if you heard but the Super Bowl was in Indianapolis this year.

After a whirlwind of media, celebrities, predictions, sights, and sounds we have taken some time to breath.  Much of the Indianapolis sports media has taken a collective nap after the biggest sporting event in the history of Indianapolis.

As we yawn and sip our coffee, here's what we are looking to now:

Indiana Pacers

Despite dropping 3 games in a row (the first losing streak of their season), the Pacers are showing promise toward a playoff run this year.  At 17-10 now, the Blue and Gold are 4.5 games behind the Bulls at 5th place in the Eastern Conference.  The Pacers host the Heat (22-7) at home tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.  With only 39 games remaining in the lockout-shortened season, the NBA is tighter and a little more exciting this season.

The NFL Combine

February 23 through 26 at Lucas Oil Stadium.  The NFL's best and brightest future stars come to Indy for the annual NFL scouting talent show.  This event goes nicely with the Colts/Manning saga.  Will Andrew Luck and RG3 work out in Indy?

Decision 2012

No, this has nothing to do with politics (unless you ask Jim Irsay).  News from Irsay and the Colts is expected any day now on the fate of Peyton Manning.  Will he stay or will he go?  Reports about Manning's throwing ability and where he has been working out have run around like sightings of Big Foot.  No one really knows if Manning is healthy enough yet to show he can be the Colts QB this year.  One thing is certain; the franchise is rebuilding.  A new GM, a new Head Coach, and a new front office and coaching staff.  Why not a new QB?

Indiana College Hoops

Indiana (19-6), Purdue (16-9), Notre Dame (17-8), Butler (15-12), Valparaiso (18-9), Ball State (12-11), and Indiana State (15-11) all have winning records going into the home stretch of the college hoops season.  Don't look now, but March and its Madness is just a few weeks away.

Indiana High School Hoops

The Girls are headed to the Regionals this weekend and the boys will begin Sectional play on February 28th before heading into their own March Madness.

Indians

On April 6, 2012 the Indianapolis Indians begin their 2012 season at Toledo.
